Alejandra attended Universidad Iberoamericana in the Dominican Republic for medical school. Following medical training, she obtained a Master’s in Health Administration in Madrid. She joined the Persistent Symptoms: Treatment, Assessment, and Recovery (PSTAR) Clinic at Grady as a Research Fellow, and given her outstanding performance, she was hired as a Clinical Research Coordinator in 2019 where she worked on two main projects including Open Dialogue research and leading an industry-sponsored Phase III trial looking at treatments for the negative symptoms of schizophrenia. She has been active on committees in our department including the Diversity and Inclusion Subcommittee and the Atlanta Behavioral Health Advocates. Professional interests include medical education, working with underserved populations, including the Latinx and LGBTQ+ communities, and first episode psychosis. Alejandra’s outside interests include exploring the food scene and the outdoors in Atlanta, weight training, wellness, tending to her two orange tabbies and terrier mix, and playing Nintendo Switch.
