Rachel obtained a BS in neuroscience and behavioral biology at Emory University. Following her undergraduate degree, Rachel spent a year as a ski instructor at Beaver Creek Resort in Colorado. Rachel then pursued a Master’s Degree in psychology and neural sciences at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland. Prior to medical school, Rachel worked as a clinical research coordinator for an NIH R01 grant. In this position, she worked with stress, PTSD, and depression and their impact on chronic medical illness in resource poor populations. Rachel has demonstrated leadership and initiative throughout medical school. She established the annual summer program for rising M2s to study Tibetan medicine, Buddhism, and meditation at Men-Tse-Khang Institute in Dharamsala, India. She also is the president of the Psychiatry Student Interest Group. She is active in community service and volunteers at the student-run clinic at Clarkston Mental Health Clinic.
