Miriam began her medical school at the Queen’s University in Belfast, Northern Ireland. After completing the first year, she transferred to St. Matthew’s University. At the time she was deciding on a specialty, Miriam was torn between psychiatry and radiology, but ultimately decided to apply for the latter. Following an internship in internal medicine, she completed a Diagnostic Radiology residency and Breast Imaging fellowship at Robert Wood Johnson/Barnabas Health in New Jersey. After working as an attending in radiology, Miriam sought more patient interaction and long-term relationships with patients. She returned to her home in the Cayman Islands and took a job in the medical school, quickly settling into a counseling and mentoring role, further solidifying a career switch to psychiatry. Outside of medicine, Miriam enjoys performance-acting and -singing, as well as learning to play the piano and ocean swimming.
