Nicole was born in Mexico City, Mexico, and grew up in Texas. She attended the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she completed a major in biochemistry and molecular biology and a minor in anthropology and graduated with high honors and a distinction in her major. She attended Robert Larner, MD, College of Medicine at the University of Vermont where she was selected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Honor Medical Society. Nicole researched the social determinants of adherence to ophthalmology for patients with diabetic retinopathy with a goal of helping patients attend their healthcare appointments in the face of significant barriers. While excelling academically, Nicole maintains a well-balanced lifestyle and prioritizes her health and fitness.
