Aminat’s home is in Ohio. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Ohio State University in public health before matriculating to medical school at Emory University School of Medicine. During her tenure at the medical school, Aminat led multiple organizations, including the Student National Medical Association, the Psychiatry Interest Group and a committee on student wellness. She participates in research with the Grady Nia Project, a culturally responsive intervention program serving Black women with history of interpersonal violence and suicidality.
