While much attention has been paid to the child siblings of autistic people, very little is known about siblings as they grow into adulthood and develop new relationships and start planning or having children of their own. Our study sought to better understand the impact of having an autistic sibling on childhood experiences and adult experiences, and determine future research questions and supports required to better assist families. To accomplish this, we partnered with researchers at UCLA to hold focus group discussions with siblings to learn more about their experiences and perspectives about autism and their families.
