Emory Autism Center supports training opportunities for autism services and research across the lifespan in medical, mental health and allied health professions around the state of Georgia.
At Emory
We maintain productive ongoing training relationships within the Emory University School of Medicine, including child and adult psychiatry training programs, as well as Emory School of Nursing. We mentor research projects from graduate students in the Emory Rollins School of Public Health, and for the Emory College S.U.R.E., S.I.R.E. and other research fellowships.
Post-Doctoral Training
The 2024-2025 Autism Foundation of Georgia Postdoctoral Fellowship for Autism Across the Lifespan.
This exciting fellowship is designed to foster the professional growth of dedicated psychologists who are driven to provide innovative services and support for autistic individuals and their families and care systems throughout the lifespan. Training includes strong opportunities for work with transition age throughout adulthood. Learn more about the fellowship.
Behavioral Services Training
Emory Autism Center trains new and advanced Registered Behavioral Therapists (RBTs) within a framework of Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral Interventions (NDBI) that emphasizes self-determination and wellbeing.
As part of a contract from the Georgia Department of Health, we offer Supervised Independent Fieldwork hours for individuals working towards their Behavior Analyst certification and who are currently enrolled in or have completed a Verified Course Sequence as outlined by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB), either in the Behavior Support and Skill Building Program or the Early Emory Inclusive Preschool and Pre-K.

In Georgia
We collaborate with university partners throughout the state for training and research related to autism for individuals, families and other healthcare providers around the state. Current opportunities include:
- Full-year practicum placements for intervention and assessment for PhD students in clinical or school psychology and for Master’s students in mental health or clinical rehabilitation counseling. Current students come from the University of Georgia, Georgia State University, Mercer University and Brenau University. Contact Toni Thomas for more information.
- We also offer collaborative training with occupational therapy assistant (OTA) and other allied health professions as opportunities arise.
