The Emory Autism Center (EAC) is pleased to announce Introductory Training Workshop September 2024 on using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, 2nd Edition (ADOS-2).
The ADOS-2 is used to help in assessing and diagnosing autism spectrum disorders (ASD) across ages, developmental levels and language skills. The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of communication, social interaction, play and restricted and repetitive behaviors. By observing and coding these behaviors, you can obtain information that informs diagnosis, intervention, treatment planning and/or educational placement.
The ADOS-2 includes five modules, though the individual being evaluated is given only one module, which is selected based on his/her expressive language level and chronological age. It can be used to evaluate anyone suspected of having autism, from children 12 months of age through adulthood. This introductory workshop will only include Modules 1 – 4 (Toddler Module is a separate workshop that we are not offering at this time).
The ADOS-2 training workshop provide experienced autism professionals with introductory training on the use of the ADOS-2 in clinical settings across ages, developmental levels and language skills:
Modules 1-4: September 16 & 17 (2 Days): 8:00 AM – 3:30 PM daily
- Module 1 — children 31 months+ who do not consistently use phrase speech
- Module 2 — children any age who use phrase speech but are not verbally fluent
- Module 3 — verbally fluent children and young adolescents
- Module 4 — verbally fluent older adolescents and adults
*Note: The ADOS-2 is designed to be administered face-to-face and without masks or other PPE equipment to be scored as intended. Please see Western Psychological Services' position statement on the ADOS-2, and for more information on ADOS-2, please visit the WPS website.
