The schedule varies slightly across classrooms according to developmental standards, but each day consists of a combination of the following elements to meet the comprehensive GELDS guidelines for developing the whole child in areas of physical development and motor skills; social and emotional development; approaches to play and learning; communication, language, and literacy; cognitive development and general knowledge.
- Circle time
- Free play time / rotating centers (e.g., art, blocks, dramatic play)
- Structured activity times (including theme-based cognitive, sensorimotor and emotional tasks)
- Snacks and lunchtimes (snacks are provided by the school. Lunch is provided from home)
- Outside times
- Nap time / quiet time
- Movement and mindfulness time including yoga or dancing
- Story time
- Sensory exploration time
Meals
- We provide a nutritious choice of child-preferred foods for morning and afternoon snack during the regular classroom schedule, as well as a snack during aftercare and milk for children's lunches.
- Families are responsible for sending a balanced and nutritious lunch each day and a water bottle labeled with their child's name.
Quiet Time
- A rest period is provided each afternoon.
- Each child will be assigned a thick two-inch mat and a clean sheet. The sheet is placed in the child’s cubby in a box after each use and washed weekly.
- Each child should bring a blanket to use at rest time. We wash each blanket weekly.
