Epilepsy Program
We are proud to offer comprehensive services for infant, children, and adolescents who have epilepsy. Our Comprehensive Epilepsy Center is accredited by the National Association of Epilepsy Centers (NAEC) as a Level 4 center. Our team of professional experts and advanced facilities provide the highest level of medical and surgical evaluation and treatment for patients with complex epilepsy. We are proud to offer several specialty clinics to support the continuum of epilepsy care, including New Onset Seizure, Psychogenic Non-Epileptic Seizures, and Epilepsy Surgery. Additionally, we offer one of the largest Ketogenic Diet programs in the country.
Our pediatric-trained epileptologists, neuropsychologists and neurosurgeons collaborate on surgical procedures to deliver coordinated care and expertise to our patients. Potential surgical patients are admitted to the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit at Children’s Healthcare at Scottish Rite, which features 12 state of the art rooms to work up the most complex epilepsy patients. We offer a broad range of surgical treatments, including Vagal Nerve Stimulators, Responsive Nerve Stimulators, and the latest in robotic neurosurgery technology. The ROSA robotic surgical assistant has been added to our existing stereoelectroencephalography (SEEG) procedure to give us an integrated platform for surgical planning. We also offer laser ablation surgery using Visualase, an advanced, minimally invasive, MRI-guided laser ablation technology used to treat patients with epilepsy. Using epilepsy research, new techniques, advanced technology and diagnostic testing capabilities, we have helped our patients become free of disabling seizures after surgery.
