The following medical complications are associated with extreme prematurity and increase the risk of developmental difficulties:

- BPD and Growth Issues
- Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP)
- Intraventricular Hemorrhage (IVH)
- Periventricular Leukomalacia (PVL), & other brain injury
- Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC)
- Growth Issues and NEC Infections
