1st Year
Your first year is mainly clinical responsibilities with one-month provided to initiate a research project. Clinical responsibilities include a balance of inpatient service and outpatient-based care in endocrinology, diabetes and dynamic endocrine testing in clinics.
2nd & 3rd Years
The second and third years are mainly research responsibilities with some clinical responsibilities.
Research
Research can be clinical, translational, or basic science based in the Division of Pediatric Endocrinology, at another Emory University Department or at an outside institution.
Clinical Responsibilities
Clinical responsibilities include four to six weeks of inpatient service, outpatient continuity clinics (endocrinology and diabetes) at Emory Children’s Center, and satellite clinics in various places within driving distance from Atlanta (see below).
Upper-level fellows, will participate in Pediatric Endocrinology satellite clinics outside of the city of Atlanta once a month. This experience strengthens the knowledge of routine endocrinological care, outside of a tertiary care center, and is valued as a good preparation for private practice by all fellows.
In addition, during the second and third years, fellows will be immersed in subspecialty clinics. These clinics provide a unique patient population with intriguing and fascinating pathology, and teach our fellows specialized management in their respective fields.
