RESEARCH SPECIALIST
Job Description
Senior and Junior technicians required for our Immunology labs. Duties include:
- Human blood processing (PBMC extraction, ficoll gradient centrifugation)
- Culturing and cryopreservation of ex vivo immune cells and/or primary cell lines
The candidate is expected to perform 1+ of the following high-dimensional profiling of immune/blood cells/plasma using the following techniques:
- Plasma cytokines: multiplex ELISA (using the mesoscale discovery platform or similar)
- Preparing samples for next-gen sequencing (RNA/DNA extraction, cDNA synthesis and library preparation) - for both bulk and single cell assays. Platform - 10x Genomics, BD Rhapsody
- Multi-color flow cytometry: Surface staining, intracellular staining, cell proliferation using standardized ~28 flourophore panels. Platform: BD Symphony
- Other Cell/genetic engineering/evaluation tools: CRISPR-Cas9 assays, lentiviral transduction and ChiP-Seq
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's in Immunology/Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or similar fields preferred
- New graduates with experience in one or more of the above-mentioned techniques are welcome
- Candidates interested in pursuing future educational opportunities (i.e. Masters/PhD in Immunology/Pathology etc) are also welcome
- The candidate must be rigorous, demonstrate commitment to the work and eagerness to learn
- It is ideal if the candidate is already located in the Atlanta area and can start immediately

POST DOCTORAL FELLOW
Job Description
Helps design and conduct research within a specified field while receiving advanced training from a designated Principal Investigator to enhance professional skills and research independence needed for the pursuit of a career. The specific area of research in which the trainee is mentored is determined by the department and laboratory of the Postdoc. Designs and evaluates experiments. Develops new ideas that promote current research. Prepares and publishes scientific manuscripts under the direction of the Principal Investigator. May be responsible for operation of specific equipment. May teach techniques to others, train, and supervise research staff. Positions are temporary appointments as a research trainee. The initial appointment is for one year, renewal expected if progress is satisfactory and funds are available. Appointments cannot exceed five years.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A doctoral degree or equivalent (Ph.D., M.D., ScD., D.V.M., DDS etc) in an appropriate field. Excellent scientific writing ability and strong oral communication skills. The ability to work effectively and collegially with colleagues. Additional qualifications as specified by the Principal Investigator.
An ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Immunology or Pathology with a strong background in the study of infectious diseases using cellular and molecular Immunology techniques, with an emphasis on molecular biology experience. An ideal candidate will have a diverse knowledge and theoretical understanding of both innate and adaptive immune responses which is required to perform Systems Immunology research. Experience in bioinformatics including OMICs analysis, statistical modeling or machine learning is strongly preferred, with a willingness to learn required. The candidate should have a demonstrated history of significant scientific contributions including 3 or more first author primary research articles published in respected international journals, have been awarded one or more scientific fellowships from government or private sources and presented at international conferences. Candidates must be independent, driven, and willing to work as part of a team.

- Project management, including oversight of other personnel in the laboratory
