Annual Otolaryngology Research Event
This yearly program highlights and supports research performed by residents throughout the previous year, and is a top-notch showcase of the excellent work our senior residents have accomplished in the realm of scientific exploration and discovery. Presentations are judged by a panel of research experts, with the top projects receiving awards.
Annual Chief Resident Banquet
Emory Otolaryngology holds an end-of-the-year event to officially congratulate the graduating residents and fellows and wish them well in their future endeavors. Faculty, residents, graduates, friends, and family attend.
Academic Courses and Conferences
Each year, each class typically attends a course hosted by another institution:

PGY-1 residents attend the Emergency Airway Skills Course and Boot Camp at Duke University

PGY-2 residents attend the Carolinas Pediatric Airway Course, which alternates between UNC-Chapel Hill and the Medical University of South Carolina

PGY-3 residents attend the Southern States Rhinology Course held at Kiawah Island Resort and the Medical University of South Carolina

PYG-5 residents attend the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery Annual Meeting
Travel, lodging, and registration fees are paid by the department. As residents progress to their senior years, they also have opportunities to attend additional courses related to their area of interest.
