Course Overview and Objectives
The Temporal Bone Surgical Dissection Course offered by the Department of Otolaryngology of the Emory University School of Medicine is an intensive, five-day course geared towards otologic surgeons and residents. Participants will review surgical anatomy of the temporal bone and explore current concepts in the surgical management of ear disease.
Emphasis will be placed upon temporal bone drilling. Temporal bone surgical technique will address chronic ear disease, stapedectomy, ossicular reconstruction, facial nerve exposure, vestibular surgery, transmastoid labyrinthectomy, internal auditory canal dissection, cochlear and bone-anchored implant surgery as well as intact canal wall and canal wall down mastoidectomy. Radiology and histology of the temporal bone will also be covered.

Laboratory Design and Equipment
Our twelve-station state-of-the-art surgical dissection laboratory has been designed for use by many surgical specialties and subspecialties, including otologic, sinus, laryngeal, dental, maxillofacial, neurosurgical, dermatologic, orthopaedic, vascular, and ophthalmologic disciplines. Each station is equipped with Global surgical microscopes, wide screen flat video monitors, high speed Anspach drilling systems, Medtronic surgical instruments, and outlets for suction and water.

Credits
The Emory University School of Medicine — which is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians — designates this educational activity for a maximum of 40AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
Tuition
Registration fees include breakfast, refreshments, luncheons, course materials, and use of laboratory equipment and supplies. Each participant will be provided with four fresh cadaveric temporal bones for dissection throughout the week.
$2,300 for physicians in practice
$2,000 for residents (registration will be confirmed for residents upon receipt of an email from their program director to otolaryngology@emory.edu confirming active enrollment in an approved residency program.)

Transfer Policy

No charge to transfer a registration to another scheduled course date if the request is received more than three months from the course start date.

$300 processing fee will be applied to transfer a registration to another scheduled course date if made within 90 days of the course start date.

Transfer of a participant registration is permissible one time only.
