Emory orthopaedic residents participate in the evaluation and management of all pathology affecting current and former athletes. The extremely busy trainee experience involves several different clinical scenarios, patients from a variety of backgrounds, and a multitude of educational and research opportunities.
The Emory sports medicine resident experience is among the busiest in the country. Residents rotating on the sports medicine service rapidly learn to treat pathology of the ankle, knee, hip, elbow, and shoulder. Residents benefit from the sports medicine faculty’s commitment to teaching, research, and service. Opportunities include research meetings, advanced research and rehabilitation programs, didactics, and game-day coverage. Emory is closely associated with the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Dream, the Atlanta Falcons, and the Atlanta Hawks professional teams. Emory sports medicine supports all Emory and Georgia Tech athletics in addition to high school teams throughout the Atlanta area.
