Fellows will be required to complete two research projects over the course of the year and should have both studies submitted for publication to a peer-reviewed journal prior to the completion of the fellowship year. Fellows are encouraged to submit their projects for presentation at both local and national conferences, including the AOFAS summer meeting.
Both basic science and clinical research opportunities will be available to the fellow. The VA small animal lab provides opportunity for basic science and was recently used to develop the first small animal ankle fusion model available. Fellows will attend monthly research meetings to discuss research projects ongoing in the division and the progress of their studies.
