The drug belatacept offers tremendous benefits for kidney transplant recipients for its ability to preserve the function of the kidney in the long-term. Due in large part to the infrastructure the School of Medicine provides to develop and test new therapies, the Emory Transplant Center and National Primate Center played key roles in making belatacept available to patients worldwide.
