About Us

Welcome

On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the Emory School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Program, welcome to our website! We are proud of our reputation as one of the finest physician assistant programs in the nation and have created a curriculum which combines our creativity with yours to ensure the integration of knowledge and the development of skills of our accomplished PA graduates.  We invite you to explore the outreach, educational, clinical and research opportunities available to you as a student at Emory.  Our location in the heart of Atlanta on the Health Science campus and next door to the Center for Disease Control ensures an environment that rewards curiosity, reinforces knowledge and skills and inculcates professionalism in all our students.

The Emory University Physician Assistant Program has a long, proud history as one of the premier programs in the country.  Our mission is to recruit, educate and mentor a diverse group of students to become highly regarded, sought after physician assistants providing compassionate health care of the highest quality. To that end we cultivate an educational environment that promotes an understanding of human needs and ethical issues as well as the acquisition and application of patient-oriented clinical knowledge and skills.

In addition to our outstanding academic and clinical opportunities, we are particularly proud of our program’s long-standing heritage of community service that drives our students. Each year Emory students act on that commitment, traveling to rural South Georgia where they care for the farmworkers who harvest our crops. They work in urban Atlanta clinics, providing for the uninsured. They build Habitat for Humanity homes, and they travel to developing countries to impart share their learnings.

Our location in the School of Medicine and in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine affords our students rich resources to draw upon, including lectures from nationally known experts in their respective fields, and a diversity of clinical experiences. While true to our long history of preparing primary care providers, our curriculum provides a broad foundation in the medical and surgical disciplines for students who are interested in other areas as well. We believe that in addition to learning the science and art of medicine, we are committed to help our students become professionals who understand team-based practice, efficient learning, and advocating for patients. We train our students to become competent, confident practitioners.
