About Us

Welcome

On behalf of the faculty, staff and students of the Emory School of Medicine’s Physician Assistant Division, welcome to our website! We are proud of our reputation as one of the finest physician assistant programs in the nation and have created a curriculum which combines our creativity with yours to ensure integration of knowledge, skills into an accomplished PA graduate.  We invite you to explore the service, educational, clinical and research opportunities available to you as a student at Emory.  Our location in the heart of Atlanta on the Health Science campus and next door to the Center for Disease Control ensures an environment that rewards curiosity, reinforces knowledge and skills and inculcates professionalism in all our students.

The Emory University Physician Assistant program has a long, proud history as one of the premier programs in the country.  Our mission is to recruit, educate and mentor a diverse group of students to become highly regarded, sought after physician assistants providing compassionate health care of the highest quality. To that end we create an educational environment that promotes an understanding of human needs and ethical issues as well as the acquisition and application of patient-oriented clinical knowledge and skills.

In addition to their academic and clinical obligations, we are particularly proud of the strong heritage of community service that drives our students. Each year our students take that commitment to South Georgia where they care for the Farmworkers who harvest our crops and in urban Atlanta providing clinics for the uninsured. They build houses with Habitat for Humanity and travel to developing countries to share their lessons.

Our location in the School of Medicine and in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine provides our students with rich resources to draw on including nationally known experts in their respective fields for lectures and a diversity of clinical experiences. While true to our long history of preparing primary care providers, our curriculum provides a broad foundation in the medical and surgical disciplines for students who are interested in other areas as well. We believe that in addition to learning the science and art of medicine, some of our most important lessons are to help you become a professional who understands team based practice, is an efficient learner, an effective patient advocate and competent, confident practitioner.
