The 2017 Heel to Heal 5K on Saturday April 22  By Juliana Fritz, PA-S1, H2H5k Coordinator

April 22nd was a gorgeous sunny day--perfect for the 16th Annual Heel to Heal 5k! Members from the community and Emory students, faculty and staff came out dressed as Superheroes in support of the Emory PA Program’s charity work. It was a wonderful day, filled with stories of camaraderie and teamwork. After running through the enchanting tree-lined paths of Lullwater Park Preserve, everyone gathered at the SAAC field to enjoy free food and refreshments, live music from Karen Newell and Dr. Pettus, fun games, a Windpouch lounge area, giant bubbles, face painting, free massages and a chiropractor offering free spinal adjustments on site! Awards were given to the fastest runners in each age group, and to the person and the pet with the best costumes. The day concluded with a raffle where we gave away amazing prizes.

Heel to Heal was special because it united people from all over the country in good spirit. It was a team effort, and each person who contributed was a crucial piece of this beautiful puzzle. Together, we raised over $15,000 which will be used to provide free healthcare to medically underserved populations. Including the value of in-kind donations and services that were donated, the total raised was well over $25,000!

A special thank you to BB&J Dentistry and The Joint Chiropractic for their generous contributions and for helping to make this event so amazing!
