Research

Research Title:  The critical ciliary role of ARL13B in kidney cystogenesis.

To understand the kidney-specific signaling mechanisms of the cilia protein ARL13B in mouse models of PKD. Ciliary proteins appear to play a major role in kidney cystogenesis, but the pathway driving renal cystogenesis is unknown. Recent genetic evidence implicates ciliary ARL13B in playing a critical role in modulating renal cystogenesis.

Research Mentor: Tamara Caspary, PhD, Professor, Emory University School of Medicine, Department of Human Genetics
