Drs. Cimmino, Hartsell, Mehta, and Ogan spotlighted on Doctor's Day

March 2021

In recognition of Doctor's Day, the Emory School of Medicine Recognitions Committee sent out a call for nominations for doctors across the School of Medicine who are exceptionally dedicated to serving others. Among the featured faculty selected by the committee from over 195 peer and colleague nominations were Emory Urology faculty members Cara Cimmino, MD, Lindsey M. Hartsell, MD, Akanksha Mehta, MD, MS, and Kenneth Ogan, MD.

"The nomination letters noted your commitment to providing excellent patient care, but also your willingness to advocate for your patients, your ability to translate new investigational ideas to the bedside, your dedication to teaching, and your eagerness to connect with colleagues across disciplines," said Vikas P. Sukhatme, MD, ScD, Dean of the School of Medicine, in his congratulatory message. "You were nominated for your kindness, knowledge and compassion."

Quotes from the nomination materials for Dr. Cimmino included:

"Very detailed in her care of patients."

"Calming and genuine communication with patients."

"Goes the extra mile to fit patients in."

For Dr. Hartsell:

"Kind and compassionate with patients and their families."

"Never seen without a smile or kind word."

"Provides excellent surgical care for complex reconstructive urologic issues.""

For Dr. Mehta:

"She takes very detail-oriented care of her patients and their partners as they undergo the emotional infertility process."

"She is always available to consult for difficult cases. I trust her to be up to date on the most recent literature and recommend evidence-based care for our mutual patients."

"Phenomenal physician with a heart for patients and families."

For Dr. Ogan:

"He NEVER says no to accommodating his patients because he values their time more than he values his own."

"His work ethic is one like I have never seen before and inspires the people that work with him to work equally as hard."

"Dedicated to evidenced-based medicine."
