Principal Investigator
Muath Bishawi, MD, PhD is an academic cardiothoracic and transplant surgeon–scientist, and holds a joint appointment with the Coulter Department of Biomedical Engineering at Georgia Tech. His clinical and research programs focus on heart and lung failure, transplantation, mechanical circulatory support, and translational bioengineering. His laboratory develops new approaches to organ preservation, ex vivo perfusion, cardiac gene delivery, and device-based therapies for patients with advanced cardiovascular and pulmonary disease.

The Bishawi Lab is focused on developing technologies that improve, repair, preserve, and genetically modify failing hearts and lungs.
