Martina Precious Orji is a first-year resident in the Emory Medical Physics Imaging Residency pursuing board certification in medical physics imaging. She earned a bachelor of science degree in physics and astronomy from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, Enugu State, Nigeria; a master of science degree in medical physics from Duke University through the Duke University-Duke Kunshan University dual-campus program in Durham, North Carolina, USA, and Kunshan, Jiangsu, China; and a PhD in medical physics from the University at Buffalo, Buffalo, New York, USA.
During her PhD and subsequent postdoctoral associate appointment at the Research Foundation for SUNY - Canon Stroke and Vascular Research Center, Martina conducted research under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel R. Bednarek. Her research focused on EGSnrc-based Monte Carlo simulations for occupational scatter radiation dose estimation during fluoroscopically guided interventional (FGI) procedures across different anatomical regions and imaging parameters, enhancement of the Scatter Dose Display System (SDS) for staff dose management during FGI procedures, development of deep learning methods for scatter radiation dose prediction using Monte Carlo-generated data, and reduction of patient and healthcare personnel eye lens radiation dose using region-of-interest (ROI) attenuator during FGI procedures.
In her free time, she enjoys traveling, sightseeing, cooking, and outdoor recreational activities.
