Sydney Taylor, MD

Sydney completed her undergraduate education at the Georgia Institute of Technology before matriculating to Emory University School of Medicine. Her interest in psychiatry is rooted in community‑based care and cultural humility, shaped by her work with the Nia Project at Grady Memorial Hospital, where she co‑facilitated group therapy sessions, conducted patient interviews and contributed to research on suicidality and trauma among Black women. She is also actively involved in service at Grady Memorial Hospital and the Mosaic Mental Health Clinic, working with under‑resourced and refugee populations and valuing deep, patient‑centered connection. Sydney held leadership and educational roles through the Student National Medical Association, near‑peer teaching in psychiatry, curriculum development focused on inclusive and trauma‑informed sexual health education and student representation in palliative care. Outside of medicine, she finds balance through creative expression and connection, including practicing nail art for over 15 years as a meaningful wellness outlet and cooking and baking—interests she has enjoyed since childhood and that once helped her team win first place at Atlanta’s annual Chomp & Stomp chili cook‑off.
