Maggie Gunter, MD

Margaret is originally from Florida and earned her undergraduate degree in neuroscience and linguistics from Emory University before attending the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine. She has a strong interest in geriatric psychiatry and cognitive disorders, including research on functional neurological disorders and plasma biomarkers for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease. She has been actively involved in service with refugee and underserved populations through the Tampa Bay Street Medicine Refugee Clinic and harm reduction initiatives, experiences that have shaped her commitment to health equity and culturally responsive care. Margaret has also engaged in leadership and research through the Student National Medical Association and was selected as an American Association of Geriatric Psychiatry Scholar.

• Future Plans: Plan to pursue a fellowship in geriatric psychiatry with a focus on advocacy and health disparities, most likely in an academic setting
