
Anne Piantadosi, MD, PhD

Anne Piantadosi earned an MD/PhD from the University of Washington in 2011, studying HIV-1 superinfection and within-host evolution under the mentorship of Dr. Julie Overbaugh. She then completed clinical training in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease at Massachusetts General Hospital. As a post-doctoral researcher in the laboratory of Dr. Pardis Sabeti at the Broad Institute, Dr. Piantadosi led a multidisciplinary translational research project to evaluate viral causes of encephalitis using metagenomic sequencing. In the fall of 2019, Dr. Piantadosi joined Emory as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, with a joint appointment in the Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases, where she continues to be a practicing physician. Outside of work, Anne enjoys slow jogging, minor gardening, and competitive board game playing, mostly with her husband, daughter, and son.

Heath Bradley, MS

Heath Bradley earned a B.S. in Molecular Biology from Grove City College in 1997 and earned a M.S. in Biotechnology from Johns Hopkins University in 2006. Heath has over 20 years of experience in both research and clinical labs. In the winter of 2019 Heath joined the Piantadosi lab at Emory as the Laboratory Manager in the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Outside of work, Heath enjoys outings with friends and family to see Atlanta United as often as he can as a season ticket holder, camping and other outdoor activities with mostly with his wife, daughter and two sons.

Autum Key, MS

Autum Key earned a Masters in Behavioral Neuroscience from Georgia State University and a Masters in Biomedical Research from Morehouse School of Medicine. Her background in biomedical research includes cellular and molecular techniques and neuroscience. In May of 2020, Autum joined Dr. Piantadosi’s lab as research specialist lead to further her science career. Outside of work, Autum enjoys playing musical instruments, going to concerts, home renovation, and jogging.

Charles Marvil
Charles Marvil is a second year medical student at Emory University School of Medicine. Born and raised in Tucker, GA, Charles did his undergraduate work at Emory as well, majoring in Biology and German. After graduating, he worked for two years as a 5th grade science teacher in Nashville, TN with the Teach for America program. Prior to attending medical school, he worked as the lead clinical research coordinator for a study on Tick-borne diseases in the Infectious Diseases Division at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, MA. His academic interests lie in the fields of Infectious disease and Gastroenterology and he hopes to pursue a career in academic medicine and translational research.

James “Dustin” Denham, MD, MS
James “Dustin” Denham, MD, MS is a senior resident in the J. Willis Hurst Internal Medicine Residency Program at Emory University. Dr. Denham is a first-generation college student who grew up in the small town of Dadeville, AL. He first developed an interest in viruses and their biology after his high school anatomy teacher suggested he read The Hot Zone- an interest that led him to pursue a bachelor’s degree in microbiology from Auburn University (where he would also receive his master’s degree in biological science). He received his MD from the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine in Tampa, FL. There he met John N. Greene, MD who permanently solidified Dr. Denham’s interest in clinical infectious diseases. Outside of medicine, Dr. Denham enjoys spending time out-of-doors with his wife, Emily, and wrangling his 3 cats Elegy, Fanny, and Winnifred.
