Dr. Howard-Anderson is an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine and the interim Hospital Epidemiologist at Emory University Hospital Midtown. She completed her medical school, residency, and chief residency at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Howard-Anderson completed fellowship training in infectious diseases at Emory University in 2021 and, during her fellowship, obtained a Master of Science in Clinical Research and was selected for a research fellowship with the NIH-funded Antibacterial Resistance Leadership Group. She is an active member in both the Society of Healthcare Epidemiology of America (SHEA) and the Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA).
Dr. Witt is an Assistant Professor of Medicine within the Division of Infectious Diseases with interests in healthcare-associated infections, diagnostic and antimicrobial stewardship, and a clinical interest in immunocompromised hosts. She is the Director of Antimicrobial Stewardship and Hospital Epidemiologist at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Her research has focused on drug-resistant gram-negative bacteria, as well as drug-resistant Candida species. She is the co-Principal Investigator for the Georgia Emerging Infections, a CDC-funded laboratory- and population-based active surveillance program monitoring important infectious diseases. Dr Witt also has an interest in medical education and enjoys working with learners of all levels, from medical students to fellows.
Suzanne Segler, MPH

Suzanne Segler is Co-Director at the GA EIP. She worked on infectious disease surveillance projects under Dr. Monica Farley while in grad school at Emory RSPH before the EIP was created, moved away for a couple of years, and then came back in January 1997 as the MSA FoodNet Coordinator. While a FoodNet Coordinator, she was also the interim pediatric influenza study coordinator during its first year. Suzanne handles the budgetary side of Emory EIP activities and oversees the Viral and FoodNet EIP efforts at Emory. When she isn't working, she serves as a personal driver for her three children.
Stepy Thomas, MSPH
Co-Director
Stepy Thomas is a co-Director at the Emory Georgia Emerging Infections Program directing the Healthcare Associated Infections Community Interface (HAIC), Active Bacterial Core surveillance (ABCs), and Emory special studies project areas. Stepy is a MSPH Epidemiology graduate from the Emory Rollins School of Public Health. She began her career with the Georgia Department of Public Health (GDPH) working at the GDPH GA EIP as a study coordinator and then as the FoodNet, ABCs, and EIP Coordinator. In 2008, she moved to Emory GA EIP and previously worked as ABCs Coordinator before becoming a co-Director in 2017. Stepy is also responsible for ensuring regulatory and data sharing requirements for the GA EIP and enjoys coaching and mentoring public health staff.
