I am so proud of my daughter who’s among many Emory Health Heroes and her co-workers on the cardiology floor at Emory for all the hard work and long hours of showing care to their patients. She has shown perseverance during her first month(s) working as a new associate at Emory. She even took the time after some very long shifts to check in on a cherished family friend, age 93, who was a covid-positive patient and unable to see or be with family as his health was quickly declining. She donned her PPE and not only cheered him up with her joyful manner, she also prayed with him, helped him with his breathing treatment. Whether it was this friend of our family or the others not previously known to her, she has shown compassion and answered any call for help without reservation. Our whole family considers her our own heroine and once I saw the social media post from Emory Healthcare and Emory Department of Medicine, I knew exactly who deserved recognition, my own brave daughter. She is one amazing little woman. Her dream is to complete her 2000 patient hours and to HOPEFULLY be accepted into Emory’s Physician Assistant School as soon as possible. Since graduating from Furman University with a Health Sciences Degree in May 2019, it has been her goal and dream to work at Emory...and she is so honored and excited to now be a part of the Emory staff. She has even sent me, her mother, selfies, holding her badge, saying “I CAN’T BELIEVE I FINALLY GET TO WORK AT EMORY!!!”. Even at the end of days that lasted much longer than 12 hours, she says she is still smiling, perhaps worn out, but smiling knowing she is doing what she is most passionate about, helping others ...at Emory!
