Emory SOM Liaison Committee on Medical Education Site Visit
Emory School of Medicine's MD Program underwent an accreditation-related Limited Survey Visit by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education on March 16 and 17.
Emory was well-represented by 39 faculty and 11 students.
This visit marks the culmination of a 24-month effort that saw the generation of a 120 page Action Plan, a 92 page briefing book, over 60 dedication continuous quality improvement meetings, 20 Element Review Group Meetings, two MD program wide student survey efforts collecting quantitative and qualitative data, and countless hours of prep on behalf of all those involved.
Huge kudos to DOM faculty member Jason Brown, MD who led this site visit. We also thank Bhavin Adhyaru, MD , and the large team of faculty, staff, and students who contributed many hours toward this effort.
The DOM figured prominently in the MD program’s efforts:
- Bhavin Adhyaru, MD: Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Lead, helped restructure and lead the MD program’s CQI efforts following 2024’s LCME visit; his efforts were showcased in high-stakes portions of the Action Plan Briefing Book and Limited Survey Visit.
- Anna Von, MD: Chair of the Required Clerkship Subcommittee of the Executive Curriculum Committee (ECC) wrote multiple sections of the Action Plan and Briefing Book and participated in multiple survey visit sessions.
- Richard Pittman, MD: Chair of the Clerkship Directors’ Collaborative Group, also wrote multiple sections of the above and participated in three sessions.
- Stacy Higgins, MD: Associate Dean for Clinical Education and Student Affairs, led the way on two separate sections and sessions—all the while balancing leading the MD Program’s Match Week efforts!
