Emory Family Medicine was such an amazing experience as I completed my Sub-I elective in September 2018. Not only were the residents and faculty extremely welcoming and knowledgeable, but I felt a sense of home within those four short weeks. I learned a tremendous amount about myself, how the clinic works and experienced inpatient management on such a great team. I knew after finishing my Sub-I that this was the program for me, as I would undoubtedly gain the necessary tools to become a successful family medicine physician. Family Medicine is an all-encompassing field. You have to be able to help a pediatric patient in one room, and then switch gears almost instantly to help an elderly patient in another. It is this breadth of knowledge that family medicine physicians have to harness that attracted me to this profession. Furthermore, growing up in a small town, my family and I relied on our rural family physicians, and I began to realize at a young age how important family medicine doctors are in treating entire families throughout their development.
About me
Hometown: Parham, Ontario, Canada
Medical School: Ross University School of Medicine
Clinical Interests: Being a former basketball NCAA Division 1 scholarship athlete, I have a profound interest in Sports Medicine. From musculoskeletal type injuries, platelet-rich-plasma and stem cell injections, to game side coverage, I find it fascinating, yet challenging, working with athletes. It is not only the interactions with the athletes themselves, but also treating their sometimes complex injuries and educating them on prevention, management, and treatment.
Hobbies: Living in Atlanta for over two years now, my husband and I and our rescue pup, Domi, love to hike and get outside as much as possible. We camp, hike, and trail run in our free time and absolutely love the weather down here, as it is much better than Canadian winters!
