I chose Emory for its commitment to the community it serves. The focus on patient safety, health equity, and the human element of medicine creates a training environment unlike any other; one where social determinants of health are front and center, not a footnote.

5- year plan
I want to stay rooted in work that drives change: legislation, advocacy, education, research, whatever moves the needle. Right now, I'm focused on exploring longitudinal ways to support people experiencing trafficking, a population that's too often unseen and under-resourced.
What would you be doing if you weren’t in Emergency Medicine?
Honestly, I feel like I was made for EM. If I wasn't doing this for people, I'd probably be doing it for animals instead. The pull toward emergency medicine runs deep.
Fun Fact
I've spent years in the ER in one role or another: scribe first, then nurse, now resident.
What would your superpower be?
Super nerdy but, I'd want vision across the entire electromagnetic spectrum. Diagnosing patients would be a whole lot faster with X-ray and CT level vision. As a bonus, I'd finally get to see the world the way animals do too!
