Meredith Shepherd
Program: Microbiology and Molecular Genetics
Faculty Advisor: Seema Lakdawala, PhD
Meredith received her B.S. in Biochemistry in 2019 from Juniata College. Post graduation, she joined the lab of Dr. Seema Lakdawala at the University of Pittsburgh as a research technician where she examined the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions during the COVID-19 pandemic. She continued her work with Dr. Lakdawala as the lab transitioned to Emory University and started her PhD in Microbiology and Molecular Genetics in the fall of 2023. Meredith’s current project in the Lakdawala lab focuses on induction of both systemic and mucosal antibody responses following influenza A virus infections. This work aims to broaden our understanding of how antibody responses to influenza are shaped by pre-existing immunity.
