Senior Emory AA students Kevin Bess, Ellie Kirst, Josh Rogers, and Adam White entered the Anesthesia Patient Safety Foundation’s (APSF) Trainee Quality Improvement Competition. A video was submitted showcasing patient safety and quality improvement innovation which included an anesthesia time-out prior to induction. The acronym used to guide this time-out is SOAP ME and is quickly and easily incorporated into practice. Our students received first place in this initiative among other student anesthesiologist assistants, resident physician anesthesiologists, and student nurse anesthetists. They were presented with an award at the APSF committee meeting at the ASA meeting in October in San Francisco. |
