Dear Residents/Fellows,
We continue to monitor the COVID-19 outbreak and will provide periodic updates that are relevant to our trainees. As physicians, there are special responsibilities for not being needlessly exposed to this new infection and becoming a vector caring for a vulnerable population.
First, please remember to stay home if you are sick: fever ³ 100°F and at least one of the following symptoms: cough, sore throat, body aches, diarrhea, vomiting or congestion. The GME office will provide the necessary sick leave with pay until you are fever free for 24 hours and are feeling well enough to return to work. Your program director will help ensure coverage for your clinical duties.
We are going to require that residents or fellows NOT travel to CDC-designated level three countries for either personal or business reasons. If you do travel to these countries, you will require quarantine before returning to any Emory partner facility. You will not be paid during your quarantine and those days missed will not count towards your training. At this time, physicians should be thinking twice about any international travel.
As a reminder, we have notified you that we require all residents to review the NETEC video on the proper use of PPE (many resident will soon receive hands-on training as necessary). Once you’ve watched this video, please attest that you’ve done this so we can monitor compliance.
To enter your attestation of compliance,
- Log on to New Innovations
- Click on “Complete Advancement tasks” on your home screen (under CHECKLISTS on the top left corner of home screen)
- Follow instructions and complete checklist entitled: Attestation: COVID-19 PPE Training
- Complete the above by 3/10/2020.
Do not hesitate to contact your program leadership or any of us in GME if you have specific questions.
