Nancy Newman, MD (Ophthalmology)
“Dr. Newman has practiced, taught, and served at Emory University for over 30 years, and is currently the LeoDelle Jolley Professor of Ophthalmology and Neurology and Instructor of Neurological Surgery, as well as the Director of the Section of Neuro-Ophthalmology at the Emory Eye Center. The legacy of her over 30 years at Emory cannot be overstated, as was exemplified by the over 50 former trainees around the world who came together to celebrate Dr. Newman’s service at the 2019 North American Neuro-Ophthalmology Society meeting. Her impact is both broad and deep, as her trainees go on to take exemplary care of patients, become exceptional teachers, and pay it forward to future generations of physicians. Dr. Newman truly exemplifies what it means to give a lifetime of service, particularly to our Emory University community.”
“Dr. Newman has given a lifetime of service through her scholarship as well. Dr. Newman has authored more than 500 publications, including scientific articles, book chapters and books, and has served on the editorial boards of highly prestigious journals in her field—the American Journal of Ophthalmology, the Journal of the Neurological Sciences, Seminars in Neurology and the Journal of Neuro-Ophthalmology.”
