Dear colleagues and friends,

This week our university celebrates Staff Appreciation Week, an annual celebration to thank Emory University employees for their hard work throughout the academic year. The week will culminate in the 45th annual Staff Fest this Friday on the Quad, which I strongly encourage you attend.

Our school is committed to staff belonging and engagement. In 2021, we established our Staff Recognition and Engagement Committee (SREC) to provide guidance to leadership regarding the development of programs and initiatives for staff enrichment, amplify the many significant contributions staff make toward our mission and improve the overall sense of belonging that staff feel within the SOM. Read more about SREC.

One of the key initiatives we recently introduced is a monthly email newsletter called Team Emory Medicine where we take a break from operational updates to celebrate our people and their accomplishments. This newsletter includes a monthly Staff Shoutout section. This week, we will continue that tradition with a daily Staff Shoutout to recognize our truly exceptional team of staff in the School of Medicine. Stay tuned for our first shoutout tomorrow.

Finally, throughout the week, Appreciation Stations offering complimentary snacks will be set up at various sites listed below. Be sure to stop by for a token of appreciation and take time to connect with your colleagues:

  • Monday: Executive Park 6 training room at terrace level adjacent to HR offices and the Emory Musculoskeletal Institute (MSK building) 6th floor research conference room from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
  • Tuesday: James B. Williams Medical Education Building conference room 455 and HSRB I main lobby from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.

With much appreciation for all your contributions to the SOM mission,

Carlos
