Dear colleagues, 

 

Discovery is central to our mission as a leading academic medical center. The questions our faculty ask today can shape the science, treatments and approaches to care that improve health tomorrow. 

 

Today, we recognize faculty whose accomplishments in research and innovation demonstrate the depth and breadth of discovery across the School of Medicine. From the MilliPub Club and Emory 1% Awards to Excellence in Research and Innovation for Impact, these recognitions celebrate important contributions to our research enterprise. 

 

But discovery is not measured only by what we learn. It is also measured by what that knowledge makes possible: new approaches to preventing and treating illness, stronger scientific foundations for patient care and a healthier future for our patients and communities. 

 

I am grateful to the researchers, innovators, mentors and collaborators whose persistence and creativity move our work forward. Thank you for asking difficult questions, pursuing new possibilities and maintaining the rigor and integrity that allow discovery to translate into meaningful impact. 

 

Congratulations to today's honorees, and thank you for advancing the science fundamental to our work and our future.
