Message from the Office of the SOM Dean

September 14, 2023

Dear colleagues:

Over the past year, your research has addressed the most critical health challenges we face today including COVID-19, HIV, climate change, cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, substance use disorders, Alzheimer's disease, and more. Through your efforts, the School of Medicine secured more than $700 million in funding in FY23. While we are proud of this accomplishment, our success is truly measured by the discoveries made and the lives improved by your commitment.

Today, we celebrate Researcher Appreciation Day, during which we honor selected faculty members who represent the breadth of research in the School of Medicine. Some are dedicated researchers; others contribute to discovery, translation, and implementation as part of their clinical work.

While this list does not encompass all the remarkable research taking place throughout our school, it does provide a glimpse into the extensive and varied scholarship that has cemented Emory’s position as a leading research institution.

On behalf of our patients, learners, and the wider community, I extend my heartfelt gratitude and commend you all for your exceptional work. Keep up the fantastic efforts, as they truly are making a difference.

Lastly, a special thank you to our Faculty Recognitions Committee who organizes, reviews, and selects the final honorees each year. Thank you for your work in making this special day possible.

Carlos
