Biostatistical Support for Biomedical Research

Biomedical research projects require accurate and efficient study designs, a sound data management protocol, a detailed data analysis plan, careful statistical analysis, and thoughtful interpretation of results.  Biostatistical input is required at planning, proposal, implementation, and publication phases and helps improve proposals and manuscripts submitted for publication.  The faculty and staff of the Department of Biostatistics and Bioinformatics in the Rollins School of Public Health can provide biostatistical support for your research project under several different mechanisms.  These include:

• Project Cores: If your project falls under an Institute, Center, or Project containing a Biostatistics Core, statistical collaborators are available.  Such cores often support pilot projects.  Examples include:

• Departmental Biostatistical Support:  Some Departments in the School of Medicine employ dedicated biostatistical support available for Department Faculty. 

• Project-supported Biostatistical Support:  Projects benefit from inclusion of a dedicated biostatistician as a collaborator on the research team.   Close collaborations with biostatisticians with project support allow in-depth plans, design, and analysis directly addressing research questions of interest using available data.

• Biostatistical Consulting Center (BCC): For short-term projects, the BCC allows fee-for-service biostatistical support based on the tasks at hand.
