What I love about Emory’s PA program is that we’re encouraged to fuel our academic and clinical work by pursuing the passions that make us complete people, so we stay in balance and love what we do. Thanks to the faculty’s encouragement and support, I’ve continued to be a dedicated athlete on the Emory Women’s Water Polo club team, and remain involved in the social aspects of the team I love dearly. This is a group of 30+ young women whose strength, talent and compassion amaze me every day, who rank among the top GPAs in the nation and placed 3rd in the Southeast Division this year. Thanks to the community outreach efforts of our coach, Nealen Laxpati, and all our female athletes, Emory hosts clinics to bring water polo to Georgia high schools and community members and sends players to volunteer as coaches at schools with developing programs. We host and participate in practices with the UGA and GA Tech women’s teams, and the Emory, Trout and Dynamo Men’s Masters teams. I’ve had the privilege of serving my team as an experienced player, as well as hosting sex-ed outreach with the support of Planned Parenthood for the team and being available to research an avalanche of health questions!
