April-May Events and News

Join us for the PA 5K Heel to Heal run on Saturday April 21st!

Every year, Emory PA's program hosts a Heel to Heal 5k raise money for 3 charities that provide medical services to the underserved in Atlanta and South Georgia. The Good Samaritan Health Clinic and HEAL Clinic serve patients here in Atlanta while the South Georgia Farmworker Project provides medical care for migrant farmworkers in the Bainbridge, GA area. Our students and faculty are actively involved in providing medical services through these charities. The money we raise for them directly translates to how much care can be offered to patients. More information about the charities can be found on our website here: https://www.h2h5k.com/charities-we-support.html.

This year our race will be Saturday, April 21st. Our theme is perfect pairings, and we encourage all participants to dress up as their favorite duos, trios, and more. There will be food, music, and activities, and this is a really great fun way to support these wonderful organizations. Registration is at:

Art for a Cause: April 28th

The Emory School of Medicine is having an Art Gala on April 28th, 2018 from 7pm-11pm at the William’s Medical Education Building on Emory campus  to help sponsor our student-run medical clinics and projects.  This is a collaboration between the physician assistant students and the medical students.

The goal of the PA program is to raise funds to support our volunteer efforts to offer free healthcare for those who otherwise cannot afford it.   Our volunteering includes the Georgia Farmworker Project- our medical aid to South Georgia migrant workers- and the Good Samaritan Clinic, which is our Atlanta-based non-profit medical clinic. In order to continue providing charitable healthcare, 100% of the proceeds from the Art Gala and silent auction go directly towards these services.

If you are interested in attending this event please visit https://emorypaartgala2018.eventbrite.com. Cost is $18 if you purchase prior to the gala. Tickets will also be available at the door for $20, however this money will go towards the medical student’s fundraising efforts and not the PA program.

We hope you will be able to attend the event on April 28 and look forward to seeing you there! If you have any questions or have any art to donate please do not hesitate to reach out.
