Nanette K Wenger, M.D.

Research Interests

Short Description:

Long Description: Dr. Wenger has had longitudinal involvement in major multicenter clinical trials, beginning with the Coronary Drug Project, the Urokinase Pulmonary Embolism Trial, and the Urokinase Streptokinase Pulmonary Embolism Trial. More recently, she has been involved on the Steering Committee of the Treating to New Targets Trial, and as a member of the Executive Committee of the Heart and Estrogen/progestin Replacement Study (HERS), and HERS II. Dr. Wenger has been active in the Women’s Health Initiative at the Emory site and on national writing committees. She is the co-principal investigator for the international Raloxifene Use for The Heart (RUTH) trial. She has worked with the Centers for Disease Control on several projects related to genetic polymorphisms and their effects on anticoagulant therapy. Dr. Wenger has published more than 1200 original scientific papers, review articles, book chapters, and editorials, including serving as Associate Editor of Hurst’s The Heart for many editions. Her most recent text, co-edited with Dr. Peter Collins, Women and Heart Disease, was published in 2005.
