Deep brain stimulation for depression targets a particular intersection of three tracts of the brain. These bundles of axons transmit signals from one part of the brain to another. They are complex, three-dimensional structures that can be difficult to visualize from 2D scans or cross sections of the brain. Using 3D virtual models and selective transparency, we are able to gaze into this important cross-roads within the brain.
