Emory University/Georgia Institute of Technology Joint
Department of Biomedical Engineering
Currently ranked 3rd in U.S. News and World Report's Best Biomedical Engineering Graduate Programs!
In 1997, the Georgia Institute of Technology and Emory University established a new combined Department of Biomedical Engineering staffed by faculty from both institutions. This Department represents the strong commitment that both Emory and Georgia Tech have toward enhancing research in the biomedical and bioengineering sciences, and will significantly enhance research and education opportunities in these areas.
In addition to the programs offered by the Division, Emory M.D./Ph.D. students can pursue their Ph.D. in this joint Biomedical Engineering Program. Additional state-of-the-art facilities are available at Georgia Tech, including the Institute for Bioengineering and Bioscience, the Molecular Science and Engineering building, and the new Nanotechnology Building set to open in the 3rd quarter of 2008 which will feature 5,000 SF of dedicated biological cleanroom space. Further information about this program can be obtained from the M.D./Ph.D. office.
Georgia Tech is located just west of downtown Atlanta, about 15 minutes from the Emory campus.
