Rules for attending classes are established by individual course directors, but attendance is expected. Daily attendance on clinical clerkships and clinical experiences involving patients as well as all small group sessions are mandatory. Excused absences may be approved by the dean's office for illness and personal difficulties with proper notification. Attendance at tests and final examinations is mandatory.
The School of Medicine recognizes that excellence in medical education cannot be dependent solely upon any calendar, since illness of patients respects no calendar, secular or religious. On request, individualized assistance is available to students with special needs owing to religious beliefs and practices in the scheduling of tests and final examinations and clerkship attendance.
