ATHLETICS & RECREATION

Emory University has a highly successful Division III inter-collegiate athletics program and an intramural program with something for everyone. Recently ranked the 2 nd best athletics program in the nation (NACDA Director’s Cup Standings, Division III), Emory offers the best of both worlds: academics and athletics.

The state-of-the-art George W. Woodruff Physical Education Center (called the WoodPEC), includes an Olympic-sized swimming pool, basketball arena, weights and exercise rooms, indoor and outdoor tracks, a dance studio, tennis and racquetball courts, two climbing walls, and much more.

The newly developed Clairmont Campus housing complex has an outdoor swimming pool and basketball, tennis, and beach volleyball courts, plus workout facilities on site for use by all Emory students.

Graduate students, undergraduates, faculty, and staff compete in both competitive and recreational intramural leagues such as flag football, soccer, softball, hockey, volleyball, and basketball. Also offered are annual tournaments in golf, swimming, wrestling, ultimate frisbee, and tennis, to name just a few.

The Club Sports Program is designed to serve any group of students, faculty, staff, or alumni who meet regularly to pursue an interest in a specific sports activity. Clubs differ in their approach to their sport. Some emphasize recreation while others are highly competitive extramural clubs. Regardless of their approach, instruction for members is provided as a part of the overall goal of each organization.
