Medical Alumni Association
Graduates of Emory School of Medicine form a prestigious and active group of colleagues, over 14,000 strong. Gathering in cities across the country, medical school alumni come together for speaker events, class reunions, continuing education, and mentoring, as well as just to relax and catch up with old friends.

The Medical Alumni Association is the voice of one of our most important constituents—the men and women who have shaped our past and continue to shape our future. As valued members of the Emory University community, the Medical Alumni Association nominates and elects alumni leaders to serve on the Medical Alumni Board of Directors, who in turn meet with University representatives to effect change in medical education at Emory.

Alumni also have an opportunity each year to nominate their classmates for the following distinctions:

  • Award of Honor - This award is conferred upon an alumnus/alumnae who has demonstrated distinguished service to the Medical Alumni Association, to the School of Medicine , to Emory University , or to the profession of medicine. Nominations are solicited from alumni.
  • Distinguished Medical Achievement Award - This award is conferred upon an individual who has achieved distinction in research, teaching, medical practice, or administration in an academic or public institution. Nominations are solicited from alumni, members of the faculty, and the Dean's office.
  • The Evangeline Papageorge Distinguished Teaching Award - The medical alumni of Emory University have established in honor of Dr. Evangeline Papageorge a monetary award that recognizes the importance of excellence in teaching to medical education. This award is presented to a member of the faculty of the Emory University School of Medicine chosen as the year's most outstanding teacher. Nominations for the award may be made by students, faculty, alumni, administrators, or other members of the Emory medical community. The individual selected to receive the award should demonstrate outstanding dedication to the teaching of medical students. He or she should be an enthusiastic and effective teacher. Effectiveness should be judged not only by the ability to transmit and interpret course material, but also by the ability to communicate and interact directly with students

The mission of the School of Medicine Development & Alumni Relations team—Bu ilding Relationships to Improve Human Health —is met through alumni services such as an online classmate finder/directory, an interactive events calendar, coordination of alumni volunteer efforts, leadership development, fundraising, and coordination of mentoring programs. In addition, communications such as the Emory Medicine and Momentum magazines are mailed to all alumni and are available online.
