My research focus is on regenerative therapies, in particular stem cell therapy. The disease models I work with are stroke and traumatic brain injury (TBI), although the cell therapy paradigm can be applied to much more diverse cases. I aim to improve the viability, differentiation, and function of transplanted cells in the injured microenvironment by using innovative approaches combining genetic therapy, optogenetics, and DREADDs.
