I am investigating how the amygdala modulates hippocampal function in the service of enhancing memory. To do so, I developed a paradigm in which rats receive brief electrical stimulation to the amygdala enhancing their memory for specific object encounters when memory is tested 1 day later. Subsequently, I have paired this task with simultaneous recordings of local field potentials and single unit activity from the hippocampus.
